My early birthday present……

BECCA’S BABY

I am now the proud owner of my very own rustang!  I must say there is much less work to do on mine than on Josh’s, much to Tony’s relief.  After he decided to have a project car and Josh chose a classic Mustang, I gave T a really hard time.  I’ve wanted a Mustang since they first came out.  I told him I knew where I rated, I’d been trying to get him to buy me one for 40 years, and all Josh had to do was say, yeah that’s the one I want.  The friend that came up with Josh’s  found this one and called Tony to see if he was interested in it for Josh instead of doing the rebuild.  The whole point of the project was for Josh to learn how it went together and see how much work went into fixing it up.  So he wasn’t interested in the car for Josh, but he asked me if I would like to have it.  At first I was like, well you know I have a good car and I don’t need it, but he actually said, look I know you don’t need it, but would you enjoy owning it, tooling around in it, just having it because you always wanted one.   Of course I said yes, I’ve always wanted one.  So we just went ahead and bought it and he is going to make it look really nice and I’m going to drive it around to ballgames and when I got shopping, not for groceries, just fun shopping.  Isn’t that a blast?  I’ve got to decide what color to paint is and pick out the interior color, but everything else is working as far as Tony knows.  So I could be driving it by my birthday which is in July!  Sometimes my husband does things that really surprise me, but this tops them all.   I’m thinking candy apple red and cobalt blue or ,maybe red and white interior.   What do you all think?   This is just one more reason to lose some pounds, it be ashamed if I couldn’t fit under the steering wheel!   So I guess this is HAPPY 60th to me!

Sleepy, rainy Mother’s day for me…

guys, I’m telling you that I’m just to old anymore for really late nights!  Josh’s team had a tournament Saturday, even though he still doesn’t play much, the coach asked him to come, which I think is really nice.   Anyway, we wanted to go watch the boys play ball and we needed to go to OKC to pick up another Mustang shell, so off we went.  Met up with the caravan at 7:45 and went to the ballpark, 2 hours north, the boys played and won their first game, so they didn’t have to play again until 6:00pm.  that gave us plenty of time to go get the car body and eat and get back with no rush.  Now Josh’s Mom and Dad are divorced, and he was with his Dad for the weekend.  When we got back to the ball park Josh was obviously feeling bad and needed to go home.  In fact he had thrown up on the way up and his Dad hadn’t fed him anything until 2 that afternoon.  Why his dad didn’t just take him home is a mystery, I asked Josh  if he wanted us to take him home, but I think he was afraid if he said yes, it would make his dad mad.  Anyway about 9pm Rachel called to check on the  games and to see how Josh was and her Dad told her that Josh was sick, OMG it hit the fan then, I swear the air waves were flashing red hot!  Upshot was that Josh and his  dad left for home rather quickly!  It is so hard to be a grandparent and not be able to do anything in situations like that.  But what can you do?  I don’t know if I mentioned that he had been with us all week, out of school because he had tick fever and was pretty sick.  We thought he was better, but I guess he just over did, he seems to be feeling  much better today.  Got Rachel’s boyfriend to sneak off and let him get his Mom a card for Mother’s Day and slip it in a book to surprise her.     Anyway this is a very long way around to say that after they left for home, we decided to stay and watch the games and they finished up the last one at 12:30 Sunday morning and we got back home at 2:30!   We had a fun time and the boys won the tournament but needless to say we slept in and when it rained today, it was a perfect excuse to take a nice long nap.  Glad we did, we go back to OKC in the morning, have to take Josh to get the cast off, Rachel has missed so much work that she didn’t want to take another day off.   Who said being retired was relaxing?  Oh well , like my mother-in-law says, it keeps your brain working!   I hope all of you that are moms had a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Crazy, busy, and wore out…..

Hey you all, sorry I haven’t been on for a while, but like I said above, it’s been hectic around here.  My Mom is now in rehab, doing pretty well, but they gave us a big worry late this week–said she might not be ready to return to her apartment at Sterling House, the assisted living facility where she is living.  The rehab staff thought she might need to go to a nursing/rehab facility to continue her healing.  If we had to do that she would lose her room at Sterling House and we’d have to go through all the stuff to find a new place and get her moved.  She is really happy there and we didn’t want that to happen.  Thankfully, the staff at Sterling House said she had progressed enough to return home.  But, I spent a lot of hours on the phone talking to both staffs and nurses sorting it out.                                                                                                                                  Then this Monday Rachel got a call from the school nurse about Josh, he was sick, so she took him to the doctor, turned out he had tick fever and has been with us since Tuesday morning.  We were afraid it might have been that flu he had several of the symptoms.   Tony had been feeling bad too and we think he had a milder case of the same thing.

The last big rain we had produced a leak in our roof, thankfully a small one, but still, it had to be repaired and the inside work was messy and took several days to complete, even though it took only a few minutes each day to do the acutal work, the clean up afterwards was time comsuming.  Tony was able to take care of it, no telling what it would have cost us to have someone come out to do that.  He put the last coat of paint on this morning so we’re all done.  We had to buy a whole gallon of paint, for just about a cup to cover the patch!  Oh well at least it is done and it looks good.

We had to mow, with all the rain the last week, nearly 7 inches, with more expected, the fertilizer we put down was working all too well.  The coyotes were going to be able to sneak up on us the grass was getting so tall.  The deer and turkey have been coming to the feeder we have in front of the house, but we also have a very large black pig that has been visiting.  Tony got a shot at one a couple of weeks ago and thought he killed it, but either we have another one that has moved in or T didn’t get a killing shot.  The darn thing is tearing up my yard.  We though we had him last night, but it turned out to be a deer bedded down in the taller grass at the edge of the lawn.                                                                                                                                 Josh gets his cast off Monday, he has ball games tonight and a tournement tomorrow, if we don’t get more rain.  He’s been lucky he’s only missed 1 game so far due to having rainout.  So I guess we’ll see if he can play when he get rid of the cast.                                                                                                                                        I’ve been keeping up with you all, but this is the first time I’ve had a minute to sit down and write.  Hope everything goes well for you  and I hope all of you that are Moms have a Happy Mother’s Day.
